Welcome!

I am a PhD candidate at the Economics Department at the University of Zurich. My main advisor is Nir Jaimovich and my secondary advisor is Ana Costa-Ramon.
My research interests are in labor economics with a focus on gender and families. In my job market paper, I study womens' financial inclusion and its effect on family dynamics in the context of the US Equal Credit Opportunity Act in 1975.

I currently work for the Swiss National Bank.

Research

A Purse of Her Own: Married Women's Access to Financial Services and Female Labor Supply
Granting married women more control over their own resources increases their likelihood to participate in the labor market significantly.
Cultural Attitudes and Unemployment Benefit Take Up: Evidence from the Swiss Language Border
Does stigma decrease unemployment benefit uptake? We find that stigma has a significant negative effect on benefit uptake in times of economic crises.
Mothers' Labor Supply and Immigration: Evidence from the Swiss Border Opening
Opening the border to EU immigrants affected native men and women differentially: while men saw little impact on their labor supply, women with small children experienced persistent negative employment effects.
Norms vs. Law Changes: What matters for Female Labor Force Participation?
We study whether a signal of a norm change or the actual law change has a larger impact on real world outcomes by looking at a vote on the Swiss marriage law which passed in 1985 (signal), but was only implemented in 1988 (law change). While the old marriage law allowed the husband to prohibit his wife from working, the new law did not anymore.
